OEM, ODM and private label: what each one covers.
The three terms are used loosely in this industry. This is what each means on this site, so a brief can name the right one.
OEM
A platform built to your specification. Components, finish and packaging change against a written build sheet, and the build is confirmed before production starts.
ODM
An existing platform that you rebrand with light changes. The engineering is already done, so the work is in the brand layer and the equipment choices.
Private label
The brand layer only: logo, colour, decals and packaging on an unchanged platform. Fastest route to market and the easiest to document.

What is the difference between OEM, ODM and private label here?
OEM is a platform built to your specification - components, finish and packaging changed against a written build sheet. ODM is an existing platform that you rebrand with light changes. Private label is the brand layer only: logo, colour, decals and packaging on an unchanged platform.
Can you apply our logo and packaging?
Yes. Components, logo, colour and packaging are the four layers changed most often. The base platform stays the same, so a brand change is a configuration change rather than a new platform.
How does sample approval work?
A sample is built against the agreed specification, you approve it against that written specification, and any change after approval goes through change control so the build and the documents stay aligned. Sample terms and fees are confirmed in the quotation.
Can a certificate be issued in our company name?
Not automatically. Certificate holder, model coverage and variant coverage decide whether a document can be transferred or reissued, and that has to be reviewed per model before any claim is made. Ask for the document set mapped to the exact model and variant you are buying.
What is the MOQ for a custom build?
MOQ is flexible and a platform order can start from a single unit. The MOQ that applies to a specific custom configuration is confirmed in the quotation.
